Location:

Allard Lake, Quebec, Canada

Transgressive and conformable orebodies occur within plagioclase, pyroxene and biotite anorthosites.

Major Minerals:

Ilmenite-haematite, locally ulvöspinel-magnetite

Minor Minerals:

Pyrite, rutile, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, millerite

Trace Minerals:

Include anatase

Textures:

Lens-shaped haematite exsolution bodies within ilmenite are abundant forming haemoilmenite, these exsolution bodies themselves carry small exsolution lenses of ilmenite. Coarse grained haematite lenses are surrounded by exsolution-free areas of ilmenite. This depletion of fine-grained exsolved material about coarse exsolution bodies is common, and is known as seriate distribution
